    Some great examples here. When using pictures of animals (especially cute or cartoon images), it's very easy to let your site drift away from professionalism. These sites have succeeded in maintaining the necessary standard, IMO.

    Nice selection indeed. But, in my opinion, some design examples are depressive. I would never use such animal images for a logo of my company. But of course there are lots of worthy and adequate variants, too.

    I think having a site mascot is a great idea. You are able to incorporate it into your logo as well as having them as a quirky feature on the rest of your site. I agree with Pragmatic Design in that they don't go over the top with the design just because there is a mascot on the site, however, not all sites have to be entirely professional and clean; it all depends on the business and your audience. These mascots are used on sites where the audience are more likely to appreciate the style and in some cases wittiness of the mascots.

    You should look at my school mascot, unique like you never seen before, google "Frenkel" and see the mascot, never seen more beautiful than that.
