Graphics T-Shirts Giveaways: 5 X Any Design from 66thieves Up For Grabs!

The Story Behind 66thieves

As a full time web freelancer Nick Burd had found things to be pretty inconsistent as far as work coming and going, and he had read a lot about starting personal projects to keep his learning curve high and to possibly give him some sort of residual income for savings, and or extra curricular personal time.

This probed him to open an online ecommerce store, called 66thieves.com; a graphic tee company that allows designers from all over the world to contribute designs to be sold with little to no boundaries.

He came across this idea as a small project for himself, and in the last couple of months that it has been up and running, they have been doing very well for themselves and gaining more and more interest, sales and support.

The Development Process of 66thieves

Nick would like to share his process that he took in the development of 66thieves from beginning to end.

Brainstorming

Once Nick had decided to take upon himself to do a personal project, he decided to sit down and write out all the things that he has an interest in. He then started to brainstorm on what he wants to sell and what he would like to begin with.

Business Planning

Before starting an ecommerce site, you need to sit down and really think of finances and things that could potentially cost you money in starting up a new business. Fortunately for Nick, he got two great business partners as well. A great media and business professional Ron Nicholls the owner of Geek Suite Inc, and Dani Crosby a very talented artist and teacher as well as a marketing enthusiast.

Sitting down with his two partners, they worked out all the details, contracts and specifics as far as the total business should run, their intentions and their future goals.

Business Planning

Branding

Sitting down to decide a name for the new company and something solid to show for a brand was one of the most fluent processes Nick has gone through to date. Nick finally settled on logo and design, which he hopes will embed a lasting impression on people and will be recognized from any point.

Branding

Site Planning

Having never built an ecommerce website before and only taken part in small design aspects with other companies, Nick really did not know what he was doing honestly. Hence he did a lot of research before actually even going to Ron with his idea. Analyzing other ecommerce websites, investigating different e-commerce solutions are also some of the steps that you need to experience.

Site Planning

Learning Experience

It turns out that the design Nick had wasn't the greatest and the shopping cart was a dud. They did a complete overhaul of the site and continued testing different models to improve on their site. He even invited a mutual friend to go over the site in detail and make suggestions for flow of the site. Constant improvement and learning from past experiences is critical for the success of any online business.
