It's not about getting a bigger piece of pie, it's about growing the size of the pie.

Especially in the design category. There's just SO much design being required by the market nowadays, no one operation can handle enough of it to even show up on a pie chart !

Worldwide, the design pie is growing exponentially. When there's such a massive abundance, competition becomes redundant. It becomes about promoting the continued growth of design overall.

Besides, show me one design operation with a truly unique selling proposition. There isn't one, because everyone can offer #viral, #experiential, #standardsCompliant, #seo, #yaddaYaddaYadda

The best strategy is to do the work that's deepest inside YOU - not the work you copied off of a tut, not the trendy style of the month [ although you'll need to be able to produce any style ultimately ], but the unique signature style that the client 'has to have' on their site when they see it.
