The aspect of clean design is very important when you have less than 3 - 5 seconds to entice your customers to buy your product or interact with your site. These are more matted buttons, more pixel perfection and less drop shadows. 2.5, or 3.0? This is definitely a design evolution that we didn't see a few years ago.
